What
do the terms "royalty free" and "unlimited" in
the license agreement mean? |
| |
|
You
can read the complete Wildform Video Library License
Agreement here. "Royalty
Free" means that any Wildform Video Library
clip you purchase may be used over and over again
without incurring additional fees or costs. "Unlimited
Use" means that the footage (or images) may
be used for virtually any project including CD-ROMS,
games and the internet.
There are certain limitations, however. These limitations
include: the video clips are for a single user;
the video clips may not be sold as a stock element
or as part of any other content library or collection;
the video clips may not be used for defamatory,
fraudulent, or illegal material. Custom licenses
may be granted at our discretion and may involve
further fees. If you have a specific use in mind
and wonder if it's ok, please contact
us. |

2. |
Why
is there a $ 25 minimum? |
| |
|
The
Wildform Video Library has a $ 25 minimum charge.
This is because of the credit card charges we must
pay for each transaction and the costs associated
with processing and verifying the orders. |

3. |
Why
is your footage compressed with the Mpeg 4 AVI
codec? |
| |
|
The
content on the Wildform Video Library is intended
for use in web video and multimedia presentations.
Since Mpeg 4 currently provides the best compression
available, we use it in order to create the best
quality videos with the smallest file size. If
you require videos with greater quality or resolution,
you may contact us to
acquire broadcast quality videotape masters of
the clips you wish to order. |

Do
you sell the video on your site in broadcast quality
video formats? |
| |
|
All
the clips on the Wildform Video Library are available
on broadcast quality videotape. Prices for video
masters are considerably higher than the prices
for the downloadable clips posted on our site.
For more information contact
us. |

When
I try to open the clips I purchased, I get an error
message saying that it's 'not a valid movie file,'
or I don't have the 'proper codec' installed. What's
wrong? |
| |
|
To
view Mpeg4-v2 AVI files you need the proper codec
installed. This will make the files viewable in
the various video applications on your computer
(including editing and effects software such as
Premier and After Effects). There are free applications
you can install that will automatically install
the codec for you. For more information on using
codecs, check out the Codecs page in our Knowledge
Base area of the site. |

8. |
How
can a file that is shorter than another file, still
have a larger file size? |
| |
|
All
the video in the Wildform Video Library uses compression
to make the files smaller. Compression reduces
the size of different images based on many factors,
including motion, brightness, contrast, color hue,
etc. So while longer files will typically be larger
than a shorter file made with the same codec, this
may not always be the case. |

9. |
Why
do most of the files with audio have mono audio
instead of stereo? |
| |
|
If
the source audio was recorded in the mono format,
the clips use a mono output in order to save space
since the stereo output would simply have the identical
audio on two separate channels. |

I'm
on a Mac. How do I use the AVIs from the Wildform
video library? |
| |
|
You
can install the Mpeg4 codec into your Extensions
Folder and reboot. Then your Quicktime Player will
be able to play the Mpeg4 AVIs. This will also
make the files viewable in the various video applications
on your computer (including editing and effects
software such as Premier). This will work with
OS 9.2 and below. A version for OSX is expected
shortly. For more information on using codecs,
check out our Codecs section. |

Why
won't the video previews play? |
| |
|
All
the preview videos in the Wildform Video Library
are encoded using Wildform Flix into the SWF format.
If the video does not play at all, the most likely
reason is that you do not have Flash 4 or higher
installed on your computer, or your Flash Player
is broken. You can get the latest Flash Player
at Macromedia. |

How
do I obtain the commercial rights to use the image
of a recognizable person in a video? |
| |
|
All
the footage in the Wildform Video Library is royalty
free, meaning you do not have to pay Wildform,
or anyone else, additional license fees, beyond
the fees paid to Wildform, to use the video in
accordance with the terms of the Wildform Video
Library license agreement. However, if a selected
video includes a visible and recognizable personality,
particularly a celebrity, whether living or deceased,
you may need to secure permission from that celebrity,
their estate, or their authorized agent or representative
in order to use the video commercially. Use of
videos which include a personality often involve
a variety of laws beyond just those relating to
the copyright of the video itself. Often a fee
will be required by that personality, their estate,
or their authorized agent or representative for
commercial rights to use their image. |
