Codec FAQs for the Wildform Video Library
Q: Why is your footage compressed with the Mpeg 4 AVI codec?
A: The content on the Wildform Video Library is intended for use in web video and multimedia presentations. Since MPEG 4 currently provides the best compression available, we use it in order to create the best quality videos with the smallest file size. If you require videos with greater quality or resolution, you may contact us to acquire broadcast quality videotape masters of the clips you wish to order.

Q: When I try to open the clips I purchased, I get an error message saying that it's 'not a valid movie file,' or I don't have the 'proper codec' installed. What's wrong?
A: To view MPEG4-v2 AVI files you need the proper codec installed. This will make the files viewable in the various video applications on your computer (including editing and effects software such as Premier and After Effects). There are numerous free applications you can install that will automatically install the codec for you. Installing the Windows Media Player Codecs Installation Package will do this.

Q: I'm on a Mac. How do I use the AVIs from the Wildform video library?
A: For MacOSX, install the proper MPEG-4 codec into your "Libraries/Quicktime" Folder and then your Quicktime Player will be able to view the MPEG4 AVIs. On MacOS Classic (8.x-9.x), install the proper MPEG-4 codec into your "Extensions" folder. This will also make the files viewable in the various video applications on your computer (including editing and effects software such as Premier, After Effects, or FinalCut Pro).
