| How
to distribute your WildPresenter Flash SWF files
on CD – Basic Tutorial |

tutorial applies to WildPresenter Pro 2+ and
WildPresenter Lite 2+. |

WildPresenter
offers a number of additional export options
that can assist you in the deployment and distribution
of your WildPresenter encoded Flash SWF files.
WildPresenter exports Windows, Mac and Linux
projectors. These can be very useful for distributing
your media files on CD and other methods of offline
distribution. Projector files contain the media
and player together, so you can be certain that
the viewer does not need any additional players
to view the files.
Windows projectors are exported as .exe files.
Mac projectors are exported as .hqx files which
must be expanded on a Mac user's computer prior
to playing. Linux projectors have no extension.
The following three output options, located in
the File Tab of the Project settings window,
all have an automatic naming feature. Once you
select the checkbox next to the option, the name
field will automatically fill in. You can then
manually change the name, or use the browse button
to open a dialogue box that you can use to change
the name and destination of the output file.
By default the export options files will be saved
to the same folder as your project output. |

- Export Win Projector: Selecting
this box will cause WildPresenter to export
your SWF as a Flash projector file for Windows
(an .exe file).
- Export Mac Projector: Selecting
this box will cause WildPresenter to export
your SWF as a Flash projector file for the
Mac (an .hqx file). The .hqx file created
by WildPresenter must be expanded on a Mac
user's computer prior to playing.
- Export Linux
Projector: Selecting this box
will cause WildPresenter to export a Flash
projector file for Linux (Linux projectors
have no extension) that will play your
output video.
Issues to consider:
Because of the way Flash works, when you have
a Flash SWF on CD, the Flash player loads the
entire file into memory before it starts to play.
So, depending on your computer's speed, ram,
CD player speed, etc. your performance may vary.
Consequently, we suggest not creating files larger
than 10-25MB for use on a CD Rom. You can get
around this limit by chaining a series of SWFs
together and loading them sequentially.
If you want to add Flash video to a CD-ROM, you
should use WildPresenter’s FLV video output
as opposed to SWF output, especially for video
files larger than 10MB. FLV output provides superior
performance when played from a CD-ROM. For instance,
unlike SWF files, FLV files do not preload 100%
when played from a CD. In addition FLV files
do not have the 16,000 frame limit or RAM consumption
issues of SWF files.
When distributing your projector files you will
need to include the projector file itself and
any files located in the “Load External
Files” folder of your WildPresenter project.
This way the projector can load the required
files when it needs them.
