| Introduction |
| Flair is designed to be easy to use multimedia presentation and e-learning software. You can click and right-click your way through the program. And there are wizards to guide you through most key processes. To help get you on your way there are a few things you should know before beginning. |

| Where is your project located? |
| When you start Flair , the program will automatically create a "Projects" folder in your My Documents folder. Each project you create will be placed in a subfolder within this "Projects" folder. You may name this folder anything you like. If you do not choose a name, Flair will name it for you using the current time and date. Inside the project folder is the .wpz file which is the project settings file. |

| Preview & Edit Modes |
| Flair will either be in Edit Mode or Preview Mode. When you are in Preview Mode, all the functions in Flair are disabled. So when you want to work on your project you must be in Edit Mode. To switch between modes just use the play controls at the bottom of the preview window, or in the Preview menu: |
| |
| When you click one of the play options you will automatically go into preview mode. When you click stop you will be returned to edit mode. The program also has a feature that automatically switches you from preview to edit mode when you click on an area outside the preview window. |

| Flair includes a number of wizards that guide you through the main functions in the program. We recommend starting with a wizard. To open a wizard click on a wizard icon in the Settings Window. |
| You many also select the "Wizards" menu item. |

- Powerpoint: .ppt and .pot file
- Flash SWF & FLV: virtually any standard .swf and .flv file
- Image: almost all digital image formats
- Video: almost all digital video formats
- Audio: multiple audio formats
To import a file select File>Import File (Ctrl+I) in the File menu.
Note: To convert video, image and audio files you will need to make sure that you have the complete "recommended" install mode of the free Quicktime player as well as the free Windows Media Player. |

| Editing |
Once you have imported a file it will appear on the Flair timeline and the edit/preview stage where you can move, scale and crop any object you select. You can also apply any of the options to the file in the Object Tab of the Settings Window. Right clicking on an object on the Flair timeline also offers several options for working with the file. |

| Play Modes |
Flair will make default play mode selections for you which should work in most cases and so you will only rarely have to change them. There are three "play modes" that can be used when importing a file into Flair . These play modes determine how your files are handled when played and is most relevant for files you intend to use on the Internet (as opposed to files you plan to use on a local computer). |

The Flair interface is divided into sections. Going clockwise from the top:
- Menus & toolbars are at the top. These provide you with quick access to virtually every function in the program.
- Edit & Preview Stage is located in the center of the interface. Here you can both edit and preview your project.
- Settings Window is on the right side of the interface. Here you can open the wizards, adjust settings for objects, layers, slides, project, and there are also tabs for slide, export, library and options.
- The timeline is at the bottom. Here you can organize objects within a slide along a timeline to determine when they play and for how long.
