Open the Recording utility (Menu: Record>Record).

Note: The recording utility has a feature that turns off your computer’s hardware acceleration prior to recording and then turns it back on when recording is done. This is done to improve recording quality. You may see your screen flash when starting the recording utility. This is normal, so don’t worry about it.

Either use the existing Filename or set your own by clicking the "Browse" button.

The recording utility can record to various formats: SWF, AVI, JPEG and to the clipboard. However, only SWF files will be placed directly on the WildPresenter timeline. If you use AVI, JPEG or the clipboard, you will need to import those files into WildPresenter after creating them.

Select one of the SWF presets from the preset drop-down list. The higher the quality the better your screen capture will look, but the larger the file size will be. You may want to start off with "SWF Screen Recording Medium Quality" and see how it works for you.

Make sure "Capture from screen" is the option that appears in the Video source.

If you want to capture sound:

Check "Input enabled."

All the available audio sources should appear in the "Audio source" drop down list (including your sound card and any microphones or other audio devices attached to your computer). Select the audio source you wish to use.
Select "Stereo Mix" as "Audio Input"
Adjust the Volume Slider

Go to the Screen Tab.

Check "Window".

Select the window you wish to record from the list, or click on the "Window Finder" Icon and holding the mouse button down, move your mouse over the window you wish to capture. You will recognize the currently selected window because it will have thick black frame surrounding the selected window. Then release the mouse button.

You may also use the "Set Region" option to specify a region of the screen.

Note: If you are using more than one monitor, WildPresenter will record only from the default monitor, so be sure to place whatever you wish to record on the default monitor.

Check "capture mouse movements" if you want the mouse pointer to be included in the capture and check "Capture mouse clicks" if you are recording audio and wish to capture the mouse click sounds.

To start recording, click on the "Start" button.

If you have checked the option "Go to tray on capture start" (Setup tab), the recording utility will automatically minimize.

To stop capturing, click on the recording utility icon in the system tray.

or choose menu: Record>Stop Recording.

All recorded files are placed in a folder called "Captures" in your WildPresenter project directory. If you have recorded a SWF file it will be placed directly on the timeline in your WildPresenter project. If you have recorded AVI, JPEG or to the clipboard, you will need to import the file (which is in the Captures directory) into WildPresenter.

Quality and filesize
To obtain the very best quality for screen recording (both image quality and performance), you may want to record to uncompressed AVI and then import the video you have created into WildPresenter. The recording utility has a "Recompressor" option which you can use to encode the AVI into Flash SWF.
