Exporting a screensaver during encoding
Step One
Open Flix Pro. You will see the File tab.
Step Two
Browse to your source video.

Step Three
Select a SWF preset (either an MX SWF, Flash 3+ SWF or Vector SWF preset - you cannot export a screensaver for an FLV video.) If you don’t want to use a preset, you can fill in your own settings in the Video/Audio tab. Remember that when your screensaver plays, it will fill the entire screen, so you will want to keep that in mind. If you export a small dimension image, it will be stretched to the full screen size and may look considerably different. The exception to this is Flix Pro’s vector output which will scale to any size without distortion.

Step Four
Open the Output tab.
Step Five
Select “Export Windows Screen Saver”. The output filename will automatically fill in. If you want to change the name or location for the output file, you can type the changes directly into the field.

Step Six
Encode your file (you can use the “encode” button in the File tab, the Encode icon in the toolbar or the Encoding>Encode menu item. Once you have encoded your file, the screensaver (.exe) file will be in the location specified in the Output tab. To install the screensaver, simply run the .exe.

Converting an existing SWF file into screensaver
To convert an existing SWF into a screensaver, use the Existing SWF/FLV tab of the Flix Pro Players window. You can access this window by selecting the Player Maker icon from the toolbar or the View>Create Player menu item.
Step One
Browse to find your source SWF file (Note: you cannot export a screensaver for an FLV files). The output filename will automatically fill in and add “_player” to the name. This is done so you don’t overwrite your original SWF file by accident. If you want to change the name or location for the output file, you can type the changes directly into the field.

Step Two
Select the “Blank” player from the players list. The blank player does not actually add a player to your output, but it creates a placeholder that is the same dimensions as your source SWF file and can be used to add any of the features in the Existing SWF/FLV tab of the Players window to any existing SWF or FLV file (but remember you can only convert SWF files to a screensaver – not an FLV).

Step Three
Select the “Export Windows ScrSvr” option from the Export options list. The output filename will automatically fill in. If you want to change the name or location for the output file, you can type the changes directly into the field.

Step Four
Click “Create Now”. Once you have created your file, the screensaver (.exe) file will be in the location you specified. To install the screensaver, simply run the .exe.

Note: In addition to using the existing SWF tab of the Players window to convert any SWF into a screensaver, you can also use this feature add a player and/or a preloader to any SWF file as well as export Windows, Mac and Linux projectors and the HTML code to play your SWF files in a web browser or an email client.
