Adding players to SWF and FLV files in Wildform Flair
Contents
Introduction
Wildform Flair has a very useful player feature that enables you to add a player (with play controls such as play, stop, pause, rewind, fast forward, volume and mute) to your entire project or to any individual SWF or FLV file. This tutorial explains how to add a player to SWF and FLV files in Wildform Flair.

Adding a player to your entire project
To add a player to the entire project use the players tab of the Project Settings window or use the Export Wizard. When adding a player to your entire project you can choose to incorporate the Flash SWF and the player into a single file, or you can have two separate files in which the player will load the output.

This tutorial focuses on adding a player to individual SWF and FLV objects in your project; if you want to add a player to your complete project go here.

Adding a player to an individual SWF or FLV in your project
To begin click File>Import File and select a SWF of FLV file.
(Note: You can also import a video or audio file and encode it into Flash SWF or FLV using the video, audio and image importer.)

Right click the SWF/FLV and select Add Player/Preloader.
The Edit Player box will open. Select a player.
To preview a player click the 'View skin' button. In the preview mode the controls of the player will blink and may appear slightly distorted. This is normal. Once the player is created, the controls will appear correctly.
You can also add a player to an object that you have not yet imported. Once the player is added the file will automatically be imported into your project. To add a player to a file you have not yet imported, click on the "Browse" button. This launches a File dialog box that you can use to select the file you wish to add a player to (if you have opened this window by right-clicking on a SWF or FLV in your project, that SWF or FLV file name will already be in the Input field name). Clicking on the "Play" button will play the video.

To finish click the Create Now button.

Notes
The players will only affect objects that have been set to play using the Stream play mode.

Wildform Flair players offer the following features: fast forward, rewind, stop, play, pause, jump to start, jump to end, mute, volume control, and a progress bar. However, not all of these features are available in each player. The players provided with Wildform Flair add only a small amount to the file size. Most are smaller than 7 KB.

For more player options check out the Wildform Flair Power Players: http://www.wildform.com/products/flair/plugins.php

When adding a player to a specific SWF within your project Wildform Flair will incorporate the Flash SWF and the player into a single file. The original file will still be saved in your Source files folder within your project directory. In addition if you encoded the SWF using Wildform Flair you will still be able to access the "Edit Object" settings by right-clicking on the video or audio and this will open the Video, Audio, Image importer.

When adding a player to a specific FLV within your project Wildform Flair will generate a separate player SWF that will load the FLV file (FLV files must be loaded in order to play - this is the way the format has been designed). The FLV file will remain in the Load External Files folder in your project directory. In addition if you encoded the FLV using Wildform Flair you will still be able to access the "Edit Object" settings by right-clicking on the player and this will open the Video, Audio, Image importer.

Once you have added a player to a SWF or FLV you will need to either re-import the original SWF or FLV file or re-encode the file in order to change the player. Whichever option you choose, your source SWF or FLV will not be affected. A new SWF is always created which is either a SWF that combines your source SWF and player into a single new SWF, or a player SWF that loads your source FLV.

The Player window also has the option to add a preloader to your SWF and FLV files. For more information on the preloader features go here.
