How to animate an object with Wildform Flair
Introduction
This is a very basic tutorial to help animate an object with Wildform Flair.

Getting Started
Important Note: In order to apply an animation to an object, that object must be in either the Preload Play Mode or the Load External File Play Mode. Animations will not work with objects set to the Stream Play Mode. An object's play mode is shown and can be changed under the Play tab in the Object tab in the Settings Window. By default text boxes, images and shapes use the preload play mode, while video, audio and screen recordings use the stream play mode. You can change the play mode of any object at any time.

Animation Settings

Wildform Flair has a very useful animation feature with over 171 installed animations. You may apply an unlimited number of "Incoming" and "Outgoing" animations to any object.

Go to the Object Tab in the Settings Window and click on the Animation tab.

Select an object to animate by clicking on that object on the Wildform Flair preview stage or on the timeline. (You can also right-click on an object and select "Animate")

To add an animation click the Add button.
To select an animation pick one from the drop down list.

  • Alternate In & Out. By default the program is set to alternate in and out animations (because typically using 2 or more in or out animations in a row looks strange). If you don't want this, uncheck this box.
  • Frame: Here you enter the number of frames you wish the animation to last for.
  • Custom, Save, Delete: These are options for custom effects (see below).
  • Clear: If you wish to clear the animation from the animation list, click this button.
  • Incoming & Outgoing: Choose whether you want the animation to be incoming or outgoing.
  • Wait for click to play: If you want the animation to play when the screen is clicked, select this option.
  • Number of frames to hold this animation: If you have selected more than one animation then you can also specify a number of frames to hold the selected animation prior to beginning the next animation. The default is 0 frames.

Text Break-up options

There are a number of options that apply only to text boxes with an animation.

  • Introduce text: Here you can choose whether you want the text to animate, all at once, by paragraph, by line, by word or by letter.
  • Delay between text units: If you have selected a text breakup option, here you can choose the delay between text segments.
  • Animate shape before text: If your text box has a background, or is a callout shape with text, you can choose to animate the background or callout before the text by checking this box.

Animation List

In the animation list you can view the order of your animations. You can also use this list to select a previously defined animation to change its settings, or to move animations up or down in the list, or to delete the animation.

  • Remove Animation: This option deletes the selected animation.
  • Move Up: This option moves the selected animation up. You can also drag the animation to do this.
  • Move Down: This option moves the selected animation down in the list. You can also drag the animation to do this.

At the bottom of the animation tab are 2 more options.

  • Loop Animation: If you want your animation to loop, check the "Loop Animation" box. Loop animation applies to either or both incoming and outgoing animations when they are set.
  • Start delay frames: If you want there to be a delay before an animation plays, you can enter the number of frames to wait before the animation plays here.

Also at the bottom of the window is a small preview window where you can view a sample of what your animation sequence looks like.

Custom Animations

You can also customize many of the animations to create an unlimited number of new animations.

To create a custom effect you must first select a customizable effect from the effects list. Customizable animations have the logo before the animation name that you see highlighted below.

Once you have selected a Custom effect, you may click on the "Custom" button which will bring up a customization window that will allow you to change settings.

To customize an animation, simply change the values you wish to update, and when you are ready click the "Apply" button if you wish to keep the custom values window open, or the "OK" button if you wish to apply the settings and automatically close the window.

Once you have changed the settings of a customizable animation you can save it as a new animation. If you want to save the customized animation as a new animation select the "Save" button. This will open the naming window.

Enter the name you wish to use and click "OK".

If you later wish to delete this new effect, you can use the 'Delete' button.
