This
tutorial explains how to build a simple slideshow
in WildPresenter, including converting, cropping
and positioning your images in WildPresenter,
as well as adding slide transitions, animated
text and an audio soundtrack to your slideshow.
Here is the slideshow we will be building.
If
you have several images of similar dimensions
you want to import, you may use the batch convert
and import feature in WildPresenter.
To batch convert your images to Flash, select
the import menu
The
Import Video/Audio/Images window will appear.
Select one image you wish to import
From
the View menu, select Batch Processing
The
batch processing window will appear.
Drag
the files you wish to import into the batch processing
window.
Close
the batch processing window.
In the Video/Audio/Image window, select the image
quality you would like to convert your images
to. We will select medium quality.
Now
click on the Vid/Aud tab to display the Video/Audio
window.
Select "constrain
proportions" radio button and uncheck the "use
source dimensions" box. Set the width of your
converted images to 550.
Now,
open up the Batch Processing window again and
click the "Process" button. WildPresenter will
now batch convert your files.
When
the conversion is completed, close the window
and go the folder where your converted files
are. WildPresenter will default to putting your
converted files in the same folder as your original
files.
Now you are ready to batch import your converted
files. You may do so by dragging them into the
program in the manner described in the next section.
To
batch import your images, simply select all of
the images you wish to import and drag them into
your open WildPresenter program.
You will then be asked, if you want to put the
images into separate slides. Click Yes.
If
you are importing image files, the Import Image
box will come up and ask to select the quality
level for your imported images. We are going
to select "50". It is a good idea not to select
the highest quality (100) as this increases your
file size.
Click
OK. WildPresenter will now convert your images
to Flash and import them into the program.
a.
Cropping your images
Go to Slide 1 and right click on your image and
select crop mode.
Crop
markers will appear around the image. Drag the
markers to crop your image.
NOTE:
You may also crop and position your image in
the Appearance tab of the Object Settings window.
Do this procedure with all of your slides. When
you are satisfied with the results, return to
the master slide and delete the green rectangle.
b.
Positioning your images
Now you are ready to position your images.
To position your images slides open the Align
Toolbar (located under the Toolbar item in
the View menu). Click on the horizontal center
in slide and vertical center in slide icons
to position each image on the center of the
slide.
NOTE: You may also position your image in the
Appearance tab of the Object Settings window. c.
Setting up a placeholder in your master slide
Here is another way to position your images.
First, in the View menu turn on the Master
Slide. If your slide navigation view is set
to miniature, turn that off as well.
Click
on the master slide in your slide navigation
view. Then, go to the Shapes toolbar and from
the WildPresenter Shapes menu, select rectangle.
Drag
the rectangle shape on your stage so that its
width is 560 and its height is 400. You may specify
the exact dimensions of the rectangle shape by
opening up the Object Settings window, clicking
on the Appearance tab and entering in the correct
numbers in the width and height fields. (The
Object Settings window is found under the View
menu.)
Next,
click on your rectangle object on the Master
Slide. In the Draw Toolbar, select the paint
bucket icon and make your rectangle a color so
that you can see it against the white background
of the slides.
Notice
that because everything you put on the Master
Slide shows up in all the other slides, the
green rectangle appears in all of your slides.
In the Master Slide, let’s center your
rectangle. To do so, open the Align Toolbar
(located under the Toolbar item in the View
menu). Click on the horizontal center in slide
and vertical center in slide icons to position
your rectangle.
Now,
let's change the background color of all of the
slides. You may do this by clicking on the master
slide and selecting the paint bucket icon from
the Draw toolbar. We will choose dark grey as
our background color. .
It
is easy to add, remove and rearrange your slides
in the slide navigation view. You may do so by
clicking on the slide and dragging it to where
you want it to go. You may also right-click on
a slide in the slide navigation view and selecting
the action you wish to take. In this case we
are going to move our second slide to the first
position.
To
add transitions to your slides open the Slide
Settings window under the View menu. If you want
to add the same slide transition to every slide
in your project, click on the Master Slide in
the slide navigation view and proceed to select
your transitions in the Slide Settings window.
If you wish to apply different transitions to
each slide, select the slide you want to add
a transition to.
The Slide Settings window gives you the options
to apply both In and Out transitions, as well
as specifying the number of frames you wish for
the transition to take.
Now we are going to select the Master Slide choose
our slide navigation mode. WildPresenter defaults
to "Click next" which means that you have to
click on a slide to advance to the next slide.
We will now change this to none, so that you
do not have to click anything to advance through
your slideshow.
Now
we will apply unique transitions to each slide.
Click on the first slide in your slide navigation
view and return to the Slide Settings window.
For this tutorial we will make both our incoming
transitions and outgoing transitions hold for
the duration of 60 frames.
When you have finished applying transitions to
your slides, you are ready to export your project.
To
add a soundtrack to your slideshow, close your
current project and create a new project in WildPresenter.
We will label our new project "Slideshow_audio."
Under the File menu, select Import File and select
an audio file. The Import Video/Audio/Images
window will appear. Select an audio only preset.
Once
you have selected a preset, click the Encode & Insert
button.
WildPresenter will convert your audio to a Flash
file
When
the file is finished converting close the Video/Audio/Image
import window. The audio file will be viewable
in your timeline.
Now
import the slideshow you just made.
(The name of our file was "slideshow.swf" and
it was located in /MyWildPresenterProjects/NASA_Slideshow/.)
Either play the preview or export the project
and play the output file.
You now have a soundtrack to accompany your slideshow!
